The Texas Tech University System is preparing for a new semester with thousands of students getting ready to attend classes and events. At the same time, cases of coronavirus are spiking across the state of Texas and the rest of the nation.

While the vaccines have been available for months for students, faculty, and staff, there are still many that have not gotten vaccinated against the coronavirus. And while Texas Tech is not mandating that students and others on campus get vaccinated, they are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated.

To answer questions about the vaccine and the coronavirus and the delta variant, the Texas Tech University System is actually going to host a virtual town hall on Wednesday, August 18th. According to a press release from Dr. Ted Mitchell, Chancellor of the Texas Tech University System, everyone is invited to participate in the virtual town hall featuring panelists from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center El Paso.

I’d like to invite you to a virtual event at 12:30 p.m. CT (11:30 a.m. MT) on Wednesday, Aug. 18, hosted by our health-related institutions, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso.

"This is Your Shot: Vaccine Facts & Science” is a virtual town hall that will feature a panel of trusted health care leaders and experts from both universities who will provide facts and information about the COVID-19 vaccine.

This should be an interesting town hall for people to watch and get more information about what is going on with the pandemic.

You can join the town hall via Zoom here.
