A Texas Tech softball assistant coach has been named to a head coaching position at another university.

Kristie Fox has been named as the head coach at the University of Texas at Arlington softball team.

26-year-old Fox becomes one of the youngest Division I head coaches in the country, after helping lead the Red Raiders to three-straight trips to an NCAA Regional during her tenure.

Fox worked with infielders and hitters over the past three years, helping the team beat nearly every offensive school record, while also setting a new bar for fielding percentage this past year as well.

“She will have a lot of success at UTA as she is a great teacher of the game and a solid recruiter,” said Tech head coach Shanon Hays. “For her to be named a head coach at her age, it says a lot about the state of our program and she has played a huge part in that.”

Hays will soon begin a search for Fox’s replacement, and they expect to have a new hire later this summer.
