A nursing faculty member at Texas Tech has received an award for excellence.

Emily Merrill, Ph.D., R.N., who serves as a professor and department chair for nurse practitioner and nurse midwifery studies at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, received the award from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Merrill received the Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence, at the AANP’s 27th National Conference held in Orlando, Florida.

The award is given annually to nurse practitioners that demonstrate excellence in their areas of practice, according to a press release.

Merrill’s focus includes graduate education for nurse practitioners, role development for advanced practice registered nurses, and more.
