Texas Tech’s women’s basketball team started their season off with a win against Arizona State.

The Lady Raiders beat Arizona State 61-49 on Sunday at in Tempe.

“We showed great poise tonight,” said Texas Tech head coach Kristy Curry. “We stayed positive and stayed together. We talk about winning every four minutes ‘cause you know they’re going to make a run and you just have to sustain that.”

Arizona State gave up 22 turnovers, including 16 steals by tech, as the lady raiders scored 22 points off turnovers and 12 on fast breaks.

The Lady Raiders will play their next game against New Mexico in Albuquerque on Thursday at 8 p.m. The team will begin a seven-game homestand on Sunday beginning with Lipscomb at the United Spirit Arena.
