Texas Military Forces Activated to Help Fight Wildfires

Texas Military Forces have been activated to help fight wildfires in a northern Texas county.
Governor Rick Perry activated the Texas Military Forces aircraft and personnel to help state and local firefighting efforts in North Texas.
Two large fires are burning in Palo Pinto County, and are charring large amounts of land.
The Dark Valley fire, burning off of State Highway 16 and Farm-to-Market Road 254, has burned more than 1,700 acres. The Rhodes Ranch II Fire, located near US 180 and Farm-to-Market Road 919, has burned more than 1,600 acres.
A third fire broke out near Possum Kingdom Lake, but was quickly contained by fire-fighting aircraft.
“Texas is thankful to the brave men and women who are battling these fires on the front lines in order to protect the homes and property of the people of Palo Pinto County,” said Perry.
