Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott Replies To Councilman Victor Hernandez Comments [AUDIO]

Facebook

On the Tuesday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott spoke with Chad Hasty about his campaign for Texas Governor and his recent campaign stop in Lubbock.

Last week, Abbott made a campaign stop at the Jimenez Bakery in Lubbock, Texas. The next day, Lubbock City Councilman Victor Hernandez held a press conference criticizing Abbott for using Hispanics as “props,” and engaging in what he called “pinata politics,” reportedly going so far as to launch a personal attack of Abbott’s Latina wife.

Abbott replied that Hernandez’s behavior is indicative of many Hispanic Democrats in Texas right now. He explained that Hispanics in Texas are beginning to realize that the Democrats really do not have their best interests at heart and are now flocking to the Republican party, which is causing the Democrats in Texas to start scrambling.

“Democrats in the state of Texas feel extremely threatened about a growing demographic change in this state…Hispanics have awakened to the reality that the Democrat party really doesn’t represent them, their future, or their needs. And because of me, because of the type of campaign I am running, because of the issues I am focused on, and because of my cultural connection with the Hispanic community, the Hispanics are realizing “Wait, it’s OK to be a Republican, because Republican really do stand for what the Hispanic community really believes in.” And what we are finding in Lubbock and across the state of Texas is Hispanics fleeing the Democrat party and joining with me.”

Abbott went on to add that, from the point his campaign started to Election Day, he has received a 50 approval rating from Hispanic voters.

Abbott added that people tend to get complacent in the Republican primaries, and stressed the importance of voting to help prevent Obama from getting a foothold in Texas. He encouraged everyone to get out and vote today. Polls will be open today across the state until 7 PM.
