The Texas Education Agency says that 56 percent of all schools in the state failed to meet the AYP standards. Overall, Lubbock ISD, Frenship ISD, and Lubbock-Cooper ISD failed to meet the standards.
As we near Memorial Day, it's time for high school graduates across the state to participate in their school's commencement ceremonies. Ceremonies will start tomorrow and continue through May 31.
Over the past few years, Lubbock ISD has been steadily moving away from the idea of neighborhood elementary schools, rather choosing to close many existing elementary school facilities and construct new, larger schools at a hefty cost to the taxpayer and a heavier expense of the educational quality of young LISD students.
