"Public safety is about letting every citizen know. (The cellphone) isn't a foolproof device...but the advantage that were going after is that its another tool in the toolbox. It's another way to protect the citizens," Jeff said.

When asked if he thought that this was a bad time to be taking on such a responsibility in the midst of the pandemic, Griffith explained that the city has been involved and working with TXDOT for several months, that they felt confident that it was in proper condition, and that everything has been met as far as ownership goes.

Griffith was asked if the city council, in any way, would have any sort of lowering of the funding for the police department, to which he strongly stated, "Absolutely not. Not even a question...It's not even a topic in my opinion."
