A Snyder man is dead after reportedly threatening to kill his girlfriend and child over the weekend.

Fifty-two year-old David Dale Rivera had threatened to kill the two, and then himself on Saturday morning, and officers in Snyder arrived to find him holding his one year-old son and a knife. He continued to threaten the child during communications with officers.

The standoff began just before 8 a.m., and ended with Rivera coming out of the house with a knife in each hand and charging at an officer. Rivera was shot before reaching the officer.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
