A longtime Lubbock news reporter has passed away.  Skip Watson has died at the age of 68. During his career, Watson worked at KLBK, KLLL, KCBD and KJTV-AM. He was news director for KCBD from 1980 to 1993 and served as Lubbock ISD's Director of Public Information for a decade. He also created the U Can Share Food Drive in conjunction with the South Plains Food Bank in 1983.

A memorial service for Skip Watson will be held Monday at 1p at First Christian Church on Broadway in Downtown Lubbock.  In lieu of flowers, Watson’s family has asked for donations to be made to the South Plains Food Bank.

Editor's Note: The staff here at KFYO sends our condolences to the Watson family. Many of us here worked with Skip when he was at Lubbock ISD and during our years as a partner in the U Can Share Food Drive.
