A former teacher’s aide in Childress has been sentenced for a federal child sexual exploitation conviction.

Shanice Adel Lambert was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison, following her November 2012 guilty plea to one count of traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

Court documents show that the 38-year-old Lambert met a 15-year-old student at the school where she worked through his association with one of her children. Lambert was employed by Childress Independent School District.

Lambert reportedly engaged in a relationship with the teen which became sexual. On February 11th, 2012, she traveled to Altus, Oklahoma, to engage in illicit sexual conduct with the 15-year-old at a motel room.

She was remanded into custody at the time of her guilty plea, and her custody was continued following the sentencing hearing.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the U.S. Attorney’s Offices  in Lubbock and Amarillo, Texas.
