An area school board has certified their election results.

The Shallowater ISD school board met Tuesday to canvass the results from the May 12th school board and bond election.

Anthony Foerster and David Young were sworn in as new members of the board of trustees, and Sandy Peters was sworn in for another term, as the results were officially certified by the board. Mitch Elmore continues to serve on the board as well.

The Shallowater ISD school board also elected officers for the upcoming 2012-13 school year as well.

David Blackburn will serve as president, Garett Nelson will service as vice-president, and Camie Davis will serve as secretary.

The board also certified the $19,515,000 bond proposal for school improvements, which was approved by voters.

A complaint from two Shallowater residents alleging that Shallowater ISD promoted the passage of the bond through announcements over school’s public address system, hiring substitutes so teachers could go vote, and bought ads in the school newspaper was dismissed on May 15th by the Texas Ethics Commission.

The Texas Ethics Commission ruled that the ads in the school’s newspaper, The Pride, were paid for by a political action committee and were legal, and that the other allegations are untrue.
