Tuesday on Lubbock’s First News, Nancy Neil of Lubbock Parks and Recreation described the opening night of Santa Land.

The 60-foot Christmas tree has been programmed to play lights in time with music. She also described new scenes that are television and movie character themed, including Duck Dynasty and Despicable Me minions. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be out at Santa Land every night at 6 pm, arriving as the area is lit up. The Cactus carolers will be singing before and after the ceremony. There will also be bonfires and hot chocolate available. Neil said, “They have just topped themselves this year!” She also encouraged those who visit to wear layers due to the weather.
