Former Texas Governor Rick Perry is running for President and will make Dallas his backdrop when he announces his campaign on June 4th.

For months Perry has traveled to the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina touting his record as Governor. When asked about an official announcement, Perry repeatedly told reporters that he would announce in May or June. On Twitter this morning Perry's wife, Anita Perry, sent out a tweet about the announcement.

This will be Rick Perry's second run for the White House and unlike the first, he will be starting as an underdog. Perry has consistently polled in the low single-digits this year. Perry will join a large field of Republicans who all hope to be the next nominee. Included in that group is Texas Senator Ted Cruz who has polled higher than Perry nationally as well as here in Texas.

It has been predicted that after his announcement, Perry will hit the campaign trail in Iowa where he is spending time this weekend.
