Some military members were received at the Texas Governor’s Mansion for lunch on Monday.

Governor Rick Perry and First Lady Anita Perry hosted a Thanksgiving lunch at the Governor’s Mansion for veterans and active duty military in honor of their service and sacrifice.

The lunch was the first holiday event to occur at the Governor’s Mansion since it reopened earlier this year, following renovation after a fire caused by an arsonist.

“We have so much to be thankful for as Americans and Texans, and it wouldn’t be possible without the sacrifice and dedication of our armed forces who continue to protect freedom,” said Governor Perry.

“We think of and pray for the men and women serving in the military each and every day and to share a lunch with them and be able to personally express our appreciation for all they do means a great deal to us,” said Anita Perry.

The Governor’s Mansion will feature military-themed decorations this Christmas season in honor of the nation’s armed forces.
