Rep. Mac Thornberry On Debt Ceiling Vote: It Was A Close Call

Mac Thornberry’s district includes counties just east and north of Randy Neugebauer’s district.  Like Neugebauer, Thornberry is a Republican.

But when it was time to vote on the debt ceiling legislation, the two congressmen were on different sides, with Thornberry voting yes.  In a statement Thornberry placed in the Congressional Record, Thornberry said it was "a close call."

“There is much about this bill with which I am not satisfied, but I have absolutely no doubt that if this bill is rejected, the next one will be worse,” Thornberry said.

“The bottom line is that this bill is one step in the right direction.”
