Investigators say the remains found in a field last October are those of a 14-year-old girl who went missing on July 30th of 2011. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Friday that the remains were of Sharon West of the Labelle-Fannett area. Dental records were used to identify the body.

West was staying with a family friend when she went missing. Months later a rancher called authorities to report a human skull found on his property in Labelle. The Sherriff’s office found pajama shorts and glasses resembling what West was wearing when she went missing. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine cause of death.
