Texas Tech’s new basketball coach will host community outreach camps around Lubbock for elementary school-age students.

The series of camps, to be held by Texas Tech Head Basketball Coach Billy Gillispie and the basketball team will be held during the summer at three Boys & Girls Clubs of Lubbock, and are for children entering grades one through six.

Gillispie and the men’s basketball program will visit the Wilson, Optimist, and Phea Boys & Girls Clubs.

The camps are designed to provide an opportunity for local kids to receive basketball instruction from the Texas Tech coaching staff, as well as current and former players.

Coach Gillispie discussed the camps, saying “We will focus on the fundamentals of the game – passing, shooting, dribbling, defense, and playing together. But more importantly, we will help teach and be an example for being successful in everyday life.”

Enrollment for the camps are already full.
