Rate Hikes for Citibus? Mayor Tom Martin Says “It Has to Be on the Table”
“Certainly the funding of Citibus is going to be a challenge this year.”
That was Mayor Tom Martin on KFYO during a discussion of the city’s next budget. The problem, according to the mayor, is a possible combination of higher fuel costs and cutbacks in federal transit aid.
So, as a result…
“One of the things that has to be on the table is an increase in the ride charge of the fares for Citibus,” Martin said.
According to the mayor, a public hearing process is required before a rate hike. The mayor did not know how much of a rate hike might be needed.
