A deadly car accident has claimed the life of one person. The car crash happened Sunday night just before 8:30 p.m. near East FM 40 and FM 400 near the town of Roosevelt.

KAMC News reports that firefighters from Roosevelt and Idalou responded to the scene. Police say that three vehicles were involved, one person has been killed, and two others have been injured. According to TxDoT, a 2017 Kia Optima was driving north on FM 400, northeast of Lubbock, when the driver drove through a stop sign at the intersection with FM 40.

That’s when a 2001 Truck Tractor hauling a 1968 Semi-Trailer and traveling west struck the passenger side of the Optima. 59-year-old Cary Lynn Stennett of Lorenzo, Texas, the driver of the Tractor Trailer, was killed in the accident.

Both the driver and passenger of the Optima suffered non-incapacitating injuries. The Texas Highway Patrol is still investigating what happened and who is at fault.
