Improvements to a drainage system in the Hub City are underway.

Construction on the Northwest Lubbock Drainage Improvements Project is underway, according to the City of Lubbock.

Work has been ongoing at the storm sewer outfall near Fiesta Plaza, north of U.S. Highway 84 and west of University Avenue.

Construction activity will also begin on Grinnell Street, west of the intersection at Indiana Avenue. Parts of Grinnell Street will be closed in the area during tunneling operations, but Indiana Avenue will not be closed during the work.

Work will also be done along Fordham Street between Highway 84 and Detroit Avenue. Fordham Street will also close to through traffic for a time during the work to allow for the tunneling and trenching activities necessary to install a storm sewer box pipe.

Traffic detours will be in place at these locations, and motorists are encouraged to drive cautiously in the area.
