A street addition in the Hub City will officially open soon.

The City of Lubbock will hold a ribbon cutting to announce the completion of North Slide Road.

The event will be held on Friday, January 10th at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Slide Road and Marshall Street.

The new street is expected to open to traffic the next week.

The work on North Slide Road between Marshall Street and U.S. Highway 84 is part of the Northwest Passage Project, which also included the extension of Slide Road from Loop 289 to Erskine Street.

The project cost $5.44 million and was completed on time. Federal funding paid for 80 percent of the project cost, and a private development group led by the McDougal Companies paid the City’s 20 percent of the project.
