Monday on Lubbock's First News, Mackenzie White, Texas Tech's newest young Masked Rider, spoke about how she got the position and what the responsibilities are.

White took the reins as the 53rd Masked Rider on Friday. She made her first run at the TTU baseball game just after the transfer of the reins. White recalled that to get the position, she competed against about 9 other people by taking a written and applied exam. The winner of the title also gets an academic scholarship to support the student while at Tech. White is a sophomore studying Agricultural and Applied Economics.

Stephanie Rhode, Spirit Coordinator of Texas Tech, observed about all Masked Riders: "They all know and recognize that they are the face of Texas Tech University."
