After a historic start to the season and a quick four game sweep of the #15 team in the nation, South Alabama,  the Texas Tech baseball team is on a roll even without their star pitcher, Steven Gingery. One of the biggest factors for the Red Raiders sweeping the Jaguars was the offense exploding for more than 8 runs in three of the four games.

Michael Davis was also a big factor as his play during the week has notched him the Big 12 Player of the Week accolade the Conference announced on Monday Morning.

Davis collected 10 hits for the Red Raiders and held a .417 batting average, as well as a .462 on-base percentage. Davis launched two home runs and drove in nine runs this week helping to propel the Red Raiders to four wins against South Alabama.

Here is a video of Davis absolutely muscling a ball to opposite field for his second homer of the day to put the Red Raiders up 5-3 in the finale.

Next up for the Red Raiders will be a home matchup against New Mexico on Wednesday at 1 p.m. before they hit the road for a three game set against the #6 Kentucky Wildcats, in Lexington, beginning on Friday.
