Mayor Martin announced that there will not be a fireworks display at this year’s 4th on Broadway celebration. However, the parade, concert and other events will still take place. Mayor Martin explained that the recent drought and wildfires contributed to the decision.
“The danger is just too great…you still have the possibility of those burning embers falling to the ground and if it ignties something, that would obviously not be a good situaton.”
Mayor Martin discussed how the dry weather is not only affecting the fireworks, but the city’s economy, farmers, and water usage as well. He also spoke about the city’s new bounce house ordinance.
