Maundy Thursday Services Lubbock April 2, 2015
Until a few years ago, I had never heard of Maundy Thursday, which is the Thursday before Easter Sunday.
So, what is it?
Maundy Thursday focuses on two important events leading up the the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
First: Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples, and thereby instituted the Last Supper, also called Communion.
Second: Jesus washed his disciples feet as an act of humility and service, setting an example that we should love and serve one another in humility.
Maundy is a word derived from the Latin word for "command." Jesus commanded his disciples at the Last Supper to love and serve each other.
