Monday on the Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak discussed early voting, starting tomorrow, and the differences between Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn.

Mackowiak said it is time for candidates to be getting out name ID for early voting. He noted that about 50% of the votes in Repbulican primaries come from these votes. He suggested candidates get to know who early voters are, so they can focus on them until early voting day, after which they will need to know who the rest of their potential voters are in order to more efficiently target their campaign.

Mackowiak observed some of the differences between Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, noting how this is affected by the debt ceiling and the polarization of Republicans. He also noted the reason for some of the negative comments of other Senators toward Ted Cruz. He observed the impact Cruz, "who has only been in the United States Senate 13 months," has had  "when the other people that have been there 12, 16, or 18 years and haven't had nearly the impact he's had." Mackowiak noted, "There's a lot of envy that's there."
