Starting the week on The Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak joined Chad to talk about current events in politics.

Mackowiak and Hasty discussed last week's Republican debate and the fallout from the biased questioning from the CNBC moderators. Also in the discussion was Republican campaign standings.

Mackowiak also talked about Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI) taking over as Speaker of the House of Representatives. Asked by Hasty his thoughts on Ryan taking the helm, Mackowiak said,

I'm actually pretty encouraged about Ryan. I think he's going to be a very strong communicator, you saw that this weekend on the Sunday shows. I think he's going to really try to build consensus. I think he's going to put a vision out there for Republicans, and you know, he may try to do deals with Obama, but I think there's very little they can get done over the next year and a half. So, he's going to basically make Congress be, you know, sort of risk-free for the Republican Party brand for the nominee. No more drama, no more problems, they'll support the nominee, and the nominee will put the vision out there. So, I'm encouraged about Ryan, I think he's got great potential to do something serious on entitlements, on tax reform in 2017, we have a new President, particularly if it's a Republican.
