A local attorney has been appointed to fill an unexpired term on the Lubbock ISD School Board.

Mark Blankenship has been chosen to serve out the remaining time on the District 3 Board of Trustees seat left by Chris Comer, who accepted a banking position in Midland.

“At the conclusion of the interviews, Mark’s knowledge of the school district and his experience as a volunteer set him apart,” said School Board President James Arnold.

Blankenship has three children in the district, and is a managing partner of the law firm Crenshaw, Dupree, and Milam.

He will likely be sworn in at the next Board of Trustees meeting on January 26th. Blankenship plans to run in the May 2012 special election for the seat.
