Lubbock Prepares for Freezing Weekend Weather

A freezing rain advisory remains in effect until 6pm Friday evening. Street crews in Lubbock are readying for the weekend forecast today, preparing salt trucks in case of a freeze.
City officials remind residents to protect their homes by winterizing their water pipes. To prevent pipes from bursting, disconnect outdoor watering hoses, open cabinet doors to allow warm air to reach pipes, turn off your irrigation system, and turn indoor faucets to a drip. A possible fine of $500 can be given out for allowing sprinkler systems to run in freezing conditions.
