A candidate running for the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees in this Saturday’s election was released from the Lubbock County Jail just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon (May 1).

Fifty-year-old Amanda Lee Banks was arrested last Friday and charged with multiple counts of felony insurance fraud. Banks had made numerous insurance claims over an eight-year period ending in August 2016. Fraud investigators allege those claims to be fraudulent.

Amanda Banks is one of three candidates on the ballot running for the Lubbock ISD At-Large/Full-term Trustee position. Banks is running against Beth Bridges and Art Martin.

Election Day is Saturday, May 5 and polls will be open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
