On the Thursday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Lubbock County Republican Party Chairman Carl Tepper talked with Chad Hasty about the latest going on in national and state politics.

The government shutdown is in its 3rd consecutive day now, and Tepper was clearly tired of hearing about it. He explained that it was just a partial shutdown, not a complete shutdown, and that government workers who are temporarily out of work need to stop complaining, as they will be receiving back pay for the shutdown. He went on to say that it's not that big of a deal when the House and the Senate don't agree, and that it's part of the way our government was designed to work.

"There's three branches of government, everyone. One of them is called a bi-cameral legislature. There is a Senate and there is a House of Representative and yes, when they don't disagree things can get really stuck. It was designed that way. We don't agree...and it's OK not to agree."

In state politics, Senator Wendy Davis is planning to announce today that she will be running for Texas governor. Tepper said he was actually very glad to see her running because it will held to get the Republican base motivated, and is looking forward to seeing her debate. He also added that, if Davis leaves the Senate to run for Governor, there's a good chance of that seat being filled by a Republican in the next election.

The Lubbock County Republican party will also be hosting their 3rd annual golf tournament this Monday, October 7th. Teams interested in participating need to register for the tournament before the end of today. There will also be a party after the tournament, where Congressman Randy Neugebauer, Harvey Hilderbran and Tom Pauken are scheduled to appear. Admission to the party is $20 per person, and $25 for LCRP members.
