A women’s health organization has named a new director.

The Texas Tech Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health has named Laura Street as their new executive director.

Street is the immediate past executive director of the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts in Amarillo.

She is replacing Founding Executive Director Dr. Marjorie Jenkins, who has been appointed as the Institute’s chief scientific officer, and will continue as regional director of the group at Amarillo. Jenkins has led the Institute for four years.

Street has been a physical therapist, nurse practitioner, administrator, and executive director, and led a campaign to raise more than $33 million for the construction of a new Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts.

Texas Tech Health Sciences Center President Tedd L. Mitchell discussed Street’s hiring, saying that her “background in women’s health and nonprofit management, along with her passion for this community, will serve the institute well.”
