Winter Storm Causes Mass Closings in Lubbock Tuesday

Last weekend's winter storm has resulted in mass closings on Tuesday, December 29 in the Hub City.

Lubbock County has announced that county offices and most facilities will be closed on Tuesday.

Essential services will remain open, however, and essential employees will report for duty.

Contrary to initial reports, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center will also remain closed on Tuesday.

Early indications were that the TTUHSC would open at 11 a.m., but roads are still too dangerous to do so.

In addition, the main part of the South Plains Mall will remain closed, but anchor stores are allowed to set their own hours.

Lubbock County, just like the City of Lubbock, is encouraging all residents to stay at home through Tuesday.
