The Lubbock County Commissioners Court met this morning and voted to ban fireworks completely within Lubbock County for this summer.

The ban doesn’t just include the use of fireworks, but it also bans the sale of fireworks within the county.

Today’s decision by the Commissioners comes on the heels of Friday’s announcement by Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin that there will not be a fireworks display at the city’s 4th of July Celebration this year.

If there is significant rainfall before July 4th within Lubbock County, County Judge Tom Head can rescind the ban.  Also, a reminder that fireworks are permanently banned within the Lubbock city limits.
