On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Judge Mark Hocker, candidate for Lubbock County Court at Law No. 1, talked with Chad and Rex about his campaign for Court at Law.

Judge Hocker began serving on the court after former Judge Rusty Ladd passed away, and has been serving for 4 months. Hocker said that a good judge should be competent, impartial, and most importantly, give everyone a fair chance in court.

"We have lost our way in this country if you can't walk into court and get a fair shake."

Hocker also talked about some of the changes he's instituted during his time as judge, including a scheduling order and the court taking back control of the trail docket. Hocker also discussed various questions such as whether justices of the peace should be lawyers first, or if election are really the best way to elect judges.
