In a one-page ruling issued on Wednesday, August 7, Judge Bill Sowder of the 99th District Court dismissed Mike Leach’s lawsuit against Craig James, ESPN and Spaeth Communications.

Judge Sowder’s ruling states in-part: “The Court grants each of the Defendant’s Motions for Summary Judgement.”

The defamation lawsuit was filed in November 2010.  At the time, Mike Leach’s attorney, Ted Liggett said Leach wanted “to set the record” straight. “Mike Leach wants his name cleared. His reputation has taken a severe hit and been tarnished,” Liggett said.

Leach’s attorneys do have the option to appeal the ruling.
