Lanes will be closed temporarily on Interstate 27 to allow for the moving of a home this weekend.

Delays can be expected along a portion of the southbound I-27 main lanes and frontage road between 19th and 34th Streets on Sunday.

Movers will be relocating the J.I. Allison house from Municipal Hill to the Buddy Holly Center.

The group will begin moving the home, which once belonged to the drummer of The Crickets, around 7 a.m. from Municipal Hill north to Erskine, then west to the southbound I-27 frontage road, where it will turn south. The home will access I-27 via the on-ramp just south of the Marsha Sharp Freeway.

The southbound I-27 frontage road between 19th and 34th Streets will be closed to traffic for a brief time as the home makes its way to 19th Street. Both east and westbound lanes on 19th Street will be closed for a brief time during the move.

The move is expected to be completed by 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The home’s complete restoration is expected to be finished in late spring of 2013.
