Bridge work on the Marsha Sharp Freeway will cause traffic closures and detours next week.

Beginning Tuesday, January 24th, crews will begin work to place bridge beams at the Texas/Buddy Holly overpass on the Marsha Sharp Freeway.

The beam-hanging will require the closure of both the east and westbound frontage roads from I-27 to the Texas/Buddy Holly intersection. The intersection will also be closed to north and southbound traffic as well, and motorists are urged to find alternate routes.

The closures are expected to last about two days.

TxDOT also expects the new eastbound frontage roads from Avenue L to McKenzie Park to open to traffic on Thursday, bringing frontage road traffic from the Texas/Buddy Holly intersection east to MLK Boulevard into their final one-way configuration. Also, the traffic signals at I-27 at that intersection will be replaced with a 4-way stop.

The construction is part of Phase 4 of the Marsha Sharp Freeway Project.
