Thursday morning, Texas Governor Greg Abbott made a series of appointments to the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents.

Current Regent, Mickey Long, was reappointed to another six year term. Long has served as the chairman of the BoR for the past two years.

The other two appointments were Christopher M. Huckabee and Ronnie "Ron" Hammonds.

Duncansaid. “Christopher and Ron are both great alumni of Texas Tech University, who have tremendous track records of community service and have been very supportive of their alma mater. We look forward to their support and guidance in the years to come."

The three appointments are subject to Texas Senate confirmation and the six-year terms are scheduled to start February 1, 2015.

Huckabee and Hammonds will be replacing the outgoing Nancy Neal of Lubbock and John Walker of Houston.
