Over the weekend, Breitbart Texas had a story about Col. Michael Bob Starr participating in LGBT events while he was commander of Dyess Air Force Base.

The story shows pictures of Col. Starr wearing "Pride Day" t-shirts while participating in what has been called fun runs.

Starr responded on Monday that while he personally opposes gay marriage and using the military for social engineering, he was "obligated" to follow it as commander of Dyess. He also accused those responsible for what he called a smear campaign of being cowards and said that the attacks on him are also an attack on the men and women at Dyess Air Force Base.
