Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed legislation that will ban Texans from being allowed to text while they are driving. The new ban on texting while driving will go into effect on September 1. Drivers will not be allowed to read, write, or send and electronic message unless the vehicle is stopped. Drivers found guilty of the offense will face a fine of $25 to $99 for the first offense.
