The icy conditions were not supposed "to stick". Mother nature has other ideas.  Lubbock and portions of the South Plains are experiencing rain, snow, ice and everything in between making for some very poor road conditions.

Numerous accidents have been reported across the Hub City including several rollovers. The National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory for the freezing drizzle.  Temperatures are not expected to exceed the 27 degrees we already reached which should keep roads slippery all day.  We do have a 40% chance of more snow, freezing drizzle or sleet for today and a 50% chance for tonight.  There is a small chance the snow and ice will continue tomorrow and a high of 25 will keep most things frozen.  These cold conditions will continue through tomorrow night spoiling New Years Eve for many.  Things should turn around a bit on New Years Day with a high of 32.
