On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Congressman Randy Neuegbauer talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the latest coming out of Washington.

Congress is back in session after a two-week recess, and they have plenty of work ahead of them. One of the bigger issues Congress is expected to tackle is gun control. However, Neugebauer argued that it's not the most important issue out there, and that the President is focusing too much on gun control and not enough on other issues Americans are really concerned with, like the economy.

"I think what you're seeing is that [gun control] is what the President is focusing on. Instead of focusing on the economy, the President been out to Colorado and up to Connecticut. And so the President had got a full court press on gun control as opposed to focusing on the economy. And so I think that a great indication of how out of touch this administration is with the American people."

Neugebauer also discussed the ongoing debates on the SNAP program and food stamps. He said there a still large number of people that are abusing the programs, and he would like to see stronger measures put into place to prevent further abuse.

You can listen to Congressman Randy Neugebauer Mondays at 7:35 during Lubbock's First News on NewsTalk 790 KFYO.
