Nineteenth Congressional District Representative Randy Neugebauer visited with Lubbock's First News' Tom Collins and Laura Mac Monday morning to discuss the problems with the currently proposed immigration amnesty bill.

According to Neugebauer, the issues could be resolved more efficiently if current laws were being followed. He also believes that a presidential veto would cause an unnecessary setback to the Keystone XL Pipeline project, which he feels is good legislation.

Neugebauer says some of the environmental concerns over the project are based on disputable data on carbon emissions. He contends that the building of the pipeline itself and transporting of the oil would not increase carbon emissions. Alternative energy technology has not made as big as an impact as some would hope because the technology surrounding those processes is not economically viable, he argues.

Neugebauer does not believe that the release of a video depicting the recent beheading of an American humanitarian  worker by the Islamic State terrorist is a sign of desperation on the organizations behalf. he sees it as open taunting of Western officials and their lack of progress in reclaiming territory ISIS has capture in both Syria and Iraq.
