By now, you've probably heard about the employee at Cheddar's who came down with Hepatitis A. The City of Lubbock acted fast to get information out to the public and even had the City Manager come on KFYO to detail what the city was doing in response. Yesterday, the city announced that they are ready to start giving out shots. According to KFYO News:

The vaccines will be given out at the Lubbock Civic Center tomorrow from noon until 7, Saturday from 9 to 6, Sunday from Noon to 6 and Monday from 10 until 4.  The city asks that only those people who ate at Cheddar’s on the South Loop between August 31 to September 8 come and get the free vaccine.  Anyone with a history of Hepatitis A or who has previously received the vaccine doesn’t need to be vaccinated again. Parents of children receiving the vaccine need to provide a shot record if one exists.

Last night, the City of Lubbock announced that a Cheddar’s employee who has not worked at the restaurant since September 8th had been diagnosed with the viral illness and may have passed the virus on to others. The city said the incident has been traced to the employee and not to the restaurant itself.

Helaptitis A is a virtual infection of the liver. Symptoms may include fever, fatigue, losss of apetite, nausea, vomiting and abdominal discomfort and after a few days a yellowing of the skin.  The time between exposure and symptoms is typically 28 days.  Anyone with those symptoms should see a doctor.

So how do you think the City has handled this? Let us know in today's LFN Poll of the Day.
