Dogs and their owners that enjoy swimming are invited to a City of Lubbock pool.

Clapp Pool will host the K-9 SplashFest on Sunday, August 19th. The event will run from 1 to 5 p.m.

Dogs can compete in three different contests, such as the swimsuit competition, diving, and retrieving contests.

Prizes will be awarded for each event, and door prizes and concessions will be available.

Dogs must be up to date on their rabies vaccination, and have a 2012 rabies tag or certificate from a veterinarian. Dogs must be on a leash, and aggressive dogs or dogs in heat will not be allowed in.

Microchips will be offered for $10 per dog as well by City of Lubbock Animal Services at the event.

Clapp Pool is located at 46th Street and Avenue U, inside K.N. Clapp Park. Admission is $2.50 for adults and $2 for those ages 17 and younger. Dogs get in for free.
