Lubbock youth can now sign up to be part of the City’s ambassador goodwill program.

The City of Lubbock is now accepting applications for the 2014 Junior Ambassador Goodwill program.

The program provides an opportunity for students to learn firsthand about the Japanese culture as they travel to Musashino City, Japan, Lubbock’s sister city, for one week.

The travel dates are June 2nd through the 9th, 2014.

The Junior Ambassador Program is open to students currently enrolled in the 7th, 8th, or 9th grade. Interested students must turn in an application, a one page essay on why they want to travel to Japan, and three reference letters to the program coordinator by January 31st, 2014.

Applicants will be interviewed by a panel of City employees, and 16 students will be selected to participate.

Applications and program details are available on the City’s website here, and at City Hall in Room 107.

Applications should be submitted at Room 107 of City Hall or to Junior Ambassador Program, P.O. Box 2000, Lubbock, TX 79457.
