A possible ban on synthetic marijuana got callers talking on the Thursday edition of the Chad Hasty Show.

One of the big issues that will most likely be brought up at tonight's City Council meeting is synthetic marijuana. The issue was brought up at last week's council meeting, when many citizens spoke out against it, and tonight the council could request the Health Department to conduct research on the sale and availability of the drug. Chad said that, concerning marijuana use, as long as they don't hurt others, it shouldn't matter what people do in their homes. However, he said the issue also brings up the question of big government and just how much control they have when it comes to telling adults what they can and can't put in their bodies.

Several of our callers had differing views on the matter. Randy called in and made the argument that people need to be responsible for themselves, and pointed out that alcohol also affects your mind, so why not ban it as well. Caller Charles, however, disagreed and said there must be a line drawn in the sand somewhere, and that this particular marijuana is far more dangerous than alcohol. Caller Mark added that, while this marijuana should be regulated to an extent, it's not necessarily being marketed towards kids since it's sold in adults-only smoke shops.
