For those getting ready to embark on a car trip over the Fourth of July weekend, there are some tips from a veteran car dealer and Ford Motor Company that should be used to ensure a comfortable, safe, and economical trip.

The list of pre-trip checks may seem daunting, but they are a must to avoid expensive repairs and even more costly wrecks.

Annette Sykora, dealer principal of Smith South Plains in Slaton and Levelland, discussed a few things that motorists should do before setting out on the highway.

Sykora, a past chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association and member of the board of governors for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, outlines some small things to do that will not only keep you safe on the road, but also help you save money as well.

Ford Motor Company advises that even the simplest things, such as having a clean windshield and good headlights are absolutely necessary for safe driving.
